V Rising Boss Progression Guide: Optimal Kill Order
V Rising has 66 V Blood bosses spread across 8 regions. Each boss drops unique recipes, abilities, and progression unlocks. Killing them in the right order makes the difference between smooth progression and hitting a brick wall.
How V Blood Bosses Work
V Blood bosses are elite enemies scattered across the map. Each one has a set level, unique abilities, and drops specific recipes or powers when defeated. Your gear score needs to be close to the boss level to deal full damage.

Gear Score Strategy
Your gear score determines how much damage you deal and take. Being under-leveled means significantly reduced damage output and increased damage taken.
Rule of thumb: Your gear score should be within 5 levels of the boss. Being 10+ levels below means you deal drastically reduced damage and take much more.
Upgrade your weapon first — it has the biggest impact on your damage output against bosses
Craft the best armor available before pushing into a new region to avoid one-shot deaths
Use consumables (blood roses, potions) to bridge small gear gaps when you are close to the boss level
Key Boss Unlocks
Some bosses gate critical progression. These are the most important bosses to prioritize because their drops unlock new crafting tiers or essential abilities.
Keely the Frost Archer (Lv 20)
Tannery — enables leather armor crafting for early gear progression
Clive the Firestarter (Lv 30)
Alchemy Table — unlocks potions and explosives for mid-game content
Tristan the Vampire Hunter (Lv 46)
Greater Blood Essence — required for Castle Heart level 3 upgrade
Octavian the Militia Captain (Lv 58)
Dawnthorn gear recipes — major gear tier jump for mid-to-late transition
Solarus the Immaculate (Lv 80)
Soul Shards — endgame jewelry pieces that replace your ultimate ability with unique powers, making them the strongest equipment slots in the game
Progression Strategy
Early Game
Gear Score 16-36
Focus on Farbane Woods bosses in level order. Get basic crafting stations, bone gear, and establish your castle location. Do not rush — each boss drops something you need.
Mid Game
Gear Score 36-58
Transition to Dunley Farmlands. Upgrade to iron gear, unlock advanced stations, and start optimizing your blood type for each fight. This is the longest phase.
Late Game
Gear Score 58-75
Split between Cursed Forest, Hallowed Mountains, and Gloomrot. Gear upgrades come faster here. Focus on bosses that unlock the next gear tier before clearing the rest.
End Game
Gear Score 75-91
Silverlight Hills, Oakveil, and Ruins of Mortium. Max out your castle, optimize your build, and tackle the hardest bosses for ultimate rewards.
Common Mistakes
Skipping bosses to rush progression
Every boss drops something useful. Skipping bosses means missing recipes, abilities, or station upgrades that make later content much harder than it needs to be.
Fighting bosses 10+ levels above your gear
The damage penalty for being under-leveled is severe. A 10-level gap means you deal a fraction of your normal damage while taking massive hits. Farm gear first.
Not checking boss location before hunting
Bosses roam set paths. Use the blood altar to track them, then plan your approach. Running around randomly wastes time and risks daytime exposure.
